What's the difference between Tournament Edition and BackYard Pro cornhole boards?
The main difference is construction and intended use. Tournament Edition boards are built from 100% Baltic birch — top and frame — with double-thick legs, cross supports, and built-in handles. They meet ACL and ACO regulations and are designed for frequent, competitive play. BackYard Pro boards use a Baltic birch playing surface with a northern pine frame and single-thick folding legs. They're regulation size and built for quality casual play at a lower price point. If you're playing in leagues or tournaments, go Tournament Edition. If you're playing at BBQs and family gatherings, BackYard Pro is the smarter buy.
Are FanBags cornhole boards ACL and ACO approved?
Yes — our Tournament Edition PRO boards are approved for use in American Cornhole League (ACL) and American Cornhole Organization (ACO) sanctioned events. They meet regulation dimensions of 24" x 48" playing surface, 12" rear height, and 4" front height. Five of our sponsored professional players — Derrick King, Steven Bernacet, Ryan Bishop, Tom Gustafson, and Phil Lopez Jr. — compete using FanBags gear. What are interchangeable cornhole boards and how do they work?
Interchangeable cornhole boards are a FanBags-exclusive, patent-pending design that separates the playing surface from the frame. Instead of buying a whole new set every time you want a different look, you simply lift the old playing surface out and slide a new one in — the whole swap takes under 30 seconds and requires no tools. The frames are built to Tournament Edition specs, and every FanBags interchangeable top fits every FanBags frame. You can order additional custom tops anytime and swap designs for any occasion — sports teams, weddings, business events, holidays. No other cornhole company offers this.
What size are regulation cornhole boards?
Regulation cornhole boards are 24 inches wide by 48 inches long (2 feet by 4 feet). The back of the board sits 12 inches off the ground, tapering to 4 inches at the front. The hole is 6 inches in diameter, centered 9 inches from the top edge of the board. Boards are placed 27 feet apart (front edge to front edge) for regulation play, or 21 feet for casual and family play. All FanBags standard and tournament boards are built to these exact dimensions.
What's the best cornhole board for beginners?
For most beginners, the BackYard Pro is the best starting point. It's regulation size so you're learning on real dimensions, built from a Baltic birch playing surface, and priced accessibly enough that you're not overspending before you know how much you'll play. If you think you might get serious about the game quickly, skip straight to the Tournament Edition — it's a better long-term investment and you won't need to upgrade later. If you're looking for something for kids or a tight space, start with the Mini Boards.
Do FanBags boards peel or fade after outdoor use?
No — and this is one of the biggest differences between FanBags and cheaper alternatives. Every FanBags board uses UV printing directly onto the wood or polymer surface, not a vinyl wrap or adhesive decal. The ink bonds with the surface material, which means there's nothing to peel, bubble, or crack. The boards are then sealed with a UV-resistant poly coat. With normal use and reasonable storage, your FanBags design will look as vivid years from now as it does on the day it arrives.
Can I get custom cornhole boards made with my own design?
